Here are a few "keys to success" to help you keep Christ first in your workplace:
1.TRUST GOD
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Don't depend on anyone else. Include God in everything you do. He created you, He loves you unconditionally, and He has a perfect plan for your life. Only He can bring success to you and to your workplace! (Proverbs 3:5-6, NCV)
2.WATCH YOUR TONGUE
Don't use foul language! Your words are brought about by your thoughts. As a Christian you need to try your very hardest to clean up your mouth and your mind so you will not be viewed as a hypocrite.
Don't be bitter, angry, or mad. Never raise your voice or say things to hurt one of your co-workers, customers, or suppliers. Don't do anything evil. Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:31-32, NCV)
4.DON'T STEAL
Stealing at work can take many forms. You can steal materials, money, time, productivity, and joy from your employer, co-workers, customers, and suppliers. Don't destroy your integrity by stealing anything from anybody! (2 Corinthians 7:1-2, NCV)
5.TAKE A DAY OF REST
Do you honor the Sabbath? Make sure to adjust your schedule so you can honor God by taking a Sabbath rest. By resting one day a week, and giving that day to Him, you will give glory to God, and in turn, the other six days will become much more meaningful and valuable to you! (Exodus 20:11, NCV)
6.YOU HAVE A DUTY TO WORK
Stay away from those who refuse to work! Don't be lazy! Do not abuse anyone in your workplace! Never become tired of doing the Lord's work. (2 Thessalonians 3:6-14, NCV)
7.OBEY AND RESPECT YOUR BOSS
You should obey and respect your boss just as you obey and respect Christ. Work with enthusiasm! However, if your boss asks or insists that you do something immoral or illegal, you must take a stand and obey God rather than man. (Ephesians 6:5-8, NCV)
8.BE CONTENT
Contentment doesn't mean that you can no longer pursue God-given goals, but it does mean that you're satisfied with the things God has provided you with each and every day. Contentment is a rare quality in today's culture, but it is extremely liberating! Materialism and dissatisfaction lead to emotional, mental, financial, and spiritual bondage. (1 Timothy 6:6-11, NCV)
9.WORSHIP GOD ALONE
You must not serve or worship anything or anyone that competes with God. Don't place your career, your company, or your boss in greater standing than that of the Lord. (Exodus 20:5, NCV)
10.DON'T LIE OR GOSSIP
Don't fabricate stories about your boss or co-workers, and spread gossip for the sake of company politics. You have been placed in your position to be salt and light, not pepper and darkness! The truth always finds a way to rise to the surface. Be truthful in everything you say! (2 Peter 2:10-13, NCV)
11.STAY FAITHFUL TO YOUR SPOUSE
If you aren't getting the attention you feel you need or deserve at home, don't look for it at work! Honor your wedding vows by avoiding company romances! They are very real, very tempting, and very common. They are also very wrong and very destructive! (Matthew 19:8-9, NCV)
12.PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!
Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks no matter what happens! (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
"May the patience and encouragement that come from God allow you to live in
harmony with each other the way Christ Jesus wants. Then you will all be joined together, and you will give
glory to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 15:5-6, NCV)
